The Ford Mustang GT500 arriving for 2020 will have 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque. We’ve known that for a while but Ford has been coy about releasing more detailed specs.
The company’s eSourceBook dealer training documents, posted by Mustang6G, show a curb weight of approximately 4,225 pounds. If true, the flagship Shelby will be more than 400 pounds heavier than the GT350.
Numerous parts are made from carbon fiber, for example. So meticulous were the engineers, in fact, they even stretched to measures such as rifle drilling the crankshaft and developing bespoke hollow parts for the engine to shave precious grams.
The weight makes the GT500 about 335 pounds heavier than the 650-horsepower Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, or about 225 pounds lighter than the 797-hp Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. Inside the Ford family, the new GT500 is around 350 pounds more than the previous 662-hp GT500, and roughly 420 pounds more than the current Shelby GT350.
