The Ram 1500 returns for the 2020 model year with a stealthy Night Edition package. This is just one of the many small updates coming to our most recent Truck of the Year winner.
The 2020 Ram 1500 Night Edition features a monochromatic exterior with a blacked-out grille, wheels, badges, and exhaust tips. It also receives darkened headlamp and taillight bezels. The package is available on the Big Horn trim, where it gets 20-inch wheels, and the Laramie trim, which features 22-inchers.
Ram has also made the Rebel available with a diesel powertrain for 2020. First announced in June, the diesel is a third generation 3.0-liter Ecodiesel engine that delivers 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, or enough for a towing capacity of 12,560 pounds.
Other powertrain options include a 305-hp 3.6-liter V-6 and 395-hp 5.7-liter V-8. A 48-volt mild-hybrid system is standard with the V-6 and available with the V-8.
A Black Appearance package is coming to the Rebel trim, too, with 18-inch wheels, a front skid plate, front spoiler, lighting bezels, badging, tow hooks and exhaust, all finished in black. Appearance Group, which adds Diamond Black Crystal Pearl Coat paint, black 18-inch wheels, a front spoiler, skid plate, badging, tow hooks, and exhaust as well as LED headlights with black bezels and an all-black interior. A Black and Ruby Red interior is optional. You’ll also be able to option a driver assistance package on the Rebel for 2020 that includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, auto high beams and forward collision mitigation.
The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty adds a couple nice tech features. Lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, enhanced connected services and dual auxiliary camera support are all added as options for the new model year. Additionally, there are two new paint options: Olive Green and Hydro Blue. The Power Wagon doesn’t change much, but there will be a new black wheel option for 2020.
