The All-new G-Class SUV for the 2019 model year, Mercedes announced it would drop the V-12-powered G65 AMG from the lineup. While it had four more cylinders than its twin-turbo V-8-equipped G63 sibling, it wasn’t any quicker, and it was a whole lot more complex. But it was still pretty cool. Customers seeking that V-12 satisfaction have been left out in the cold by Mercedes, but if you’re willing to go the tuner route, Brabus has the perfect solution: The G V12 900 “One of Ten.”
Unfortunately Mercedes is still intent on killing off its 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-12, so we’re not likely to see a G65 variant of the all-new G-Class SUV from the factory. Luckily, however, the aftermarket has us covered.
Mercedes tuner Brabus has announced it’s planning a production run of 10 brand new G-Classes fitted with a twin-turbo V-12. As a high-performance tuner, Brabus’ V-12-powered G-Class, known as the G V12 900, isn’t exactly stock.
The G V12 900 – for 900 metric horsepower and 1,200 Nm of toruqe through its all-wheeldrive system and nine-speed automatic gearbox. With a kerb weight of 2,660 kg, it is a wonder that it manages to hit 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds with a top speed limited to 280 km/h according to Road And Track.
The price for the G V12 900 is just as outrageous as its performance specs. Brabus says its latest V-12-powered SUV will list from €605,055 ($668,000), and that’s before taxes. Given that sky-high asking price, it’s little wonder that Brabus is planning a production run of just 10 units.
