The SSC Tuatara has been in the making fòr over 10 years, but the hypercar has finally arrived as the first customer car was delivered earlier this year after a long wait.
The tuatara was not only seen in action but also gave us the opportunity to hear the aggressive soundtrack delivered by the twin-turbo V8 engine with a flat-plane crank setup. It’s hooked up to a seven-speed paddle-shift transmission that changes gears in fewer than 100 milliseconds while sending 1,350 horsepower on pump gas, and a staggering 1750 horsepower with E85 fuel to the road with just 2750 pounds dry weight.
Of course it’s quick. The company claims the car can even hit 300 mph, though an official test run hasn’t been announced. Tuatara can reach the promised velocity that would put it in the same league with the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ and its 304.773 mph (490.484 km/h).
SSC will be building 100 units of the Tuatara with prices starting from around $1.6 million and the fully loaded variant should be out at around $2 million.
