The Jaguar XF has received a refined look for the 2021 year model both on the outside plus some much-needed updates inside. This updates constitute a mid-cycle refresh for Jaguar’s svelte mid-size sedan.
Starting with the exterior, the refreshed Jaguar XF includes a revised front grille and new headlights with ‘Double J’ LED daytime running lights. Jaguar’s designers have also crafted new front and rear bumpers for the new XF, while also fitting a set of tweaked taillights.
Under the skin, the U.S. market ditches the available V6 of the outgoing model and is available with two petrol four-cylinder mills. The first is rated at 246 hp and 269 lb-ft (365 Nm) and is coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive while the second is also a 2.0-liter turbo unit but delivers 296 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). It too comes exclusively with an eight-speed and all-wheel drive as standard.
Jaguar says the entry-level 2.0-liter model can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 6.5 seconds while the flagship petrol variant with all-wheel drive hits the same mark in 5.8 seconds.
Other markets will be offered a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that comes complete with a mild-hybrid system with a 48-volt system and a belt-integrated starter generator. This variant produces 201 hp and 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) of torque and has an eight-speed auto available with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems.
While the updates on the outside are marginal, the cabin gets the heft of improvement for the 2021 model year. The outgoing XF’s small infotainment gets replaced by a curved 11.4-inch high-definition touchscreen. A new Pivi Pro infotainment system supplements the massive screen, promising intuitive usage and simplified structure. It comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as over-the-air updates and surround-view cameras.
Other 2021 XF updates include a new fully-digital instrument cluster and a convention gear lever replacing the rotary knob of the outgoing model – similar to the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace updates.
Pricing information for the 2021 XF will be announced closer to the market launch. The XF Sportbrake station wagon has also be9en updated for 2021
