Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport “Grand Prix”, Inspired By The Achievements Of Racing Driver Louis Chiron

Bugatti unveiled the new Chiron Pur Sport ‘Grand Prix,’ the company’s first project under the Bugatti Sur Mesure customization program, which means it’s one-of-a-kind.

It’s based on the exploits of Louis Chiron, who won the French Grand Prix at Montlhery in 1931 while driving a Bugatti Type 51 (an improved version of the Type 35) and wearing the number 32 – which is also present on the Chiron Pur Sport ‘Grand Prix,’ hand-painted.

The two-tone paint and other red details featured on the inside, such as stitching, piping, unique embroidery, and many ‘Grand Prix’ emblems, are also aesthetic highlights. The Alcantara flat bottom steering wheel, for example, was already available on the “normal” Pur Sport.

Bugatti designed two new exterior colors for the ‘Grand Prix,’ based on racecars from the 1920s and 1930s. If you look closely, you’ll notice the hand-painted EB pattern on the deep red fender graphics, which contrasts with the light blue bodywork and exposed carbon fiber bottom sections. There’s lots of Alcantara on the inside, as well as a black anodized aluminum center console inlay, a silver hand-painted inscription, red accents, Grand Prix branding on the center console, and an EB pattern on the door panels.

“For many years, we have worked with our clients to create their own personal vision of the ultimate hyper sports car,” said Hendrik Malinowski, Bugatti’s Managing Director for Sales and Marketing. It’s always been a highly customized process, but as a growing number of our clients request detailed and intricate customization, the launch of Bugatti Sur Mesure will ensure that we can meet their needs with the level of detail that only a Bugatti can provide. Our clientele are typically fascinated by Bugatti’s racing history, so it’s only natural that the inaugural Sur Mesure commission honor one of our greatest racing legends.

Bugatti has given personalized designs before, having constructed six Veyrons ‘Les Légendes de Bugatti’ in 2013, followed by the unique Chiron ‘Zebra 1 of 1’ in 2019, and the more recent Divo ‘Lady Bug’ in 2021. This was never a new thing by Bugatti and we still expect more from them.

Bugatti is nearing the end of production on the Chiron, with only about 40 vehicles remaining. Because they are all Chiron Pur Sport and Chiron Super Sport models, interested parties will have to dig deep into their money to obtain them – especially if they choose the Bugatti Sur Mesure program for something even more unique.
